Criminal Practice

Gideon’s first criminal trial in October of 2004 was reportedly the first jury trial related to the 2004 Republican National Convention in New York City. The client faced misdemeanor criminal charges including Riot in the Second Degree, Disorderly Conduct, Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the Second Degree, and Resisting Arrest in the New York City Criminal Court.

After the client’s arresting officer’s testimony conflicted video evidence, the Office of the District Attorney of New York County moved to dismiss the charges. Mention of the case in a front-page New York Times article led to a letter from congress and an FBI investigation.

Since late 2004, Gideon has represented and assisted in representing hundreds of defendants in criminal cases and matters ranging from misdemeanors and violations charged in bicycle summonses to serious federal crimes.
