Gideon has served on the Executive Committee of the New York City Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild since 2004, and served as its Co-Vice-President for one year.
In 2006, Gideon was named Attorney of the Year by the FreeWheels Bicycle Defense Fund.
In 2008, along with Mary Kaufman, Bill Schaap, Margaret Ratner Kunstler, and Sarah Kunstler, Gideon was among the honorees at the NLG-NYC’s annual Spring Fling.
